Странно что мало был цветущих растений. В этот период обычно наблюдается полное и массовое цветения.

В природе телорез размножается преимущественно вегетативно, нередко образуя обширные клональные популяции, состоящие исключительно из растений одного пола, мужских или женских. Как показали Smolders et al. (1995), для успешного опыления расстояние между мужскими и женскими растениями не должно превышать 1 км, в противном случае плоды на женских растениях завязываются, но лишь около 5% из них содержат очень немногочисленные семена, в остальных семена не развиваются вовсе. В Нидерландах смешанные популяции встречаются редко, но в таких популяциях опыление происходит очень эффективно и семена развиваются примерно в 90% завязавшихся плодов (как видно на снимках, цветки активно посещаются двукрылыми различных калибров). Тем не менее, даже в таких популяциях семенное возобновление не очень эффективно, что связано как с биотическими (поедание проростков пресноволными улитками), так и абиотическими факторами.
Ботаническое описание. Многолетнее, погружённое до половины или выше растение с толстым и коротким корневищем, усаженным длинными корневыми мочками и выпускающим ползучие укороченные побеги. Стебель сильно укороченный, усаженный многочисленными, косо вверх направленными листьями, образующими широкую спиральную розетку. Листья сидячие, мечевидные, очень крепкие, трёхгранные, кверху плоские, при основании желобчатые, до 45 см длиной и 4 см шириной, по краю с колючими жёсткими зубчиками, после цветения погружающиеся в воду. Цветки двудомные, по 1, реже по 2 в одном покрывале. Цветоножки длинные, с двумя килями. Покрывало из двух листочков. Чашелистики короче лепестков, продолговатые, яйцевидные. Лепестки белые, обратнояйцевидные, в числе 3, до 3 см длиной. Пестичные цветки почти сидячие, с 15 – 30 стаминодиями в виде светло-жёлтых железистых нитей. Гинецей из 6 плодолистиков, с короткими столбиками. Рылец 6, двураздельных. Тычинок 11 – 15, расположенных в 3 круга. Плоды продолговато-яйцевидные, шестигранные, ложно шестигнёздные, горизонтально или книзу отклонённые. 2n = 24.
В стоячих и медленно текущих водах, в речных заводях, старицах рек, прудах, озёрах, нередко огромными зарослями. Европейская часть: все районы, кроме Крыма и Ниж.-Волж.; Кавказ: Предкавказье; Западная Сибирь: Обск., Верх.-Тоб., Ирт. Общее распространение: Скандинавия, Атлантическая Европа, Средиземноморье.
Единственный вид монотипного рода.

Еще бы срез smile.gif Потому что это почти единственное в российской флоре растение с нижней завязью, но апокарпным гинецем.

Вообще, нижняя завязь не предполагает напрямую что все там должно срастаться. Можно, например, представить много пестиков, периферические края которых приросли к гипантию или похожей структуре, а боковые края и центры -- свободные. Но если смущает такая фраза, можно заменить на "апокарпный гинецей в надпестичном цветке". Просто эти термины ("надпестичный/подпестичный") употребляются гораздо реже.
