user posted imageШпанка красноголовая (Epicauta erythrocephala) жук из семейства Mylabridae (см. Нарывники), длина 12-18 мм. Развитие Шпанки красноголовой сопряжено с гиперметаморфозом. Яйца откладываются в землю в тех местах, где отложены кубышки саранчи (Pachytilus migratorius) и прусика (Caloptenus italicus). Распространена по югу России и Европы. Жуки при сильном размножении могут наносить вред культурным растениям. Польза приносимая этим жуком, значительно больше, чем вред. Ведь Шпанка красноголовая истребляет в больших количествах вредных насекомых: саранчу и прусика.
