Responsible for performing in vitro and in vivo experiments using molecular, biochemical and cellular assays in cell culture systems and animal models. Define goals for research projects and experiments in conjunction with PI and other research staff.

Manage mouse colony database, including genotyping, and record experiments. Analyze tissues from rodents by Western blotting techniques, process tissue for microscopic examination.

Operate diagnostic laboratory equipment, including (but not limited to) electroretinogram (ERG), digital fundus camera, optical coherence tomography (OCT) microscopes, and real-time PCR. Collecting. Transform data obtained from the equipment listed above for research staff, including familiarizing oneself with the computer based data acquisition software as needed.

EXPECTED SALARY:
$16.18 - $21.02 per hour

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BS, MS or PhD in biology or a closely related life science field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate should have experience in protein biochemistry assays, maintaining cell lines, production of lentiviral vectors, performing plasmid transfections/viral infections, immunohistochemistry, real time-PCR and genotyping. Possess the ability to work efficiently as part of a productive team and have a strong work ethic. Preference will be given to applicants that have demonstrated the ability to work as part of a collaborative team and have a strong interest in translational research. Good communication skills are essential. Experience characterizing retinal function and structure in rodent models (ERG, OCT, fundoscopy, behavior testing), gene therapy and/or virology are preferred.
